We sometimes find it hard to believe what Bayberry Hollow looked like 4 years ago…
Bayberry Hollow was the former Pack Horse local public house in Tanfield Village. The decor was typical of its purpose, and during the refurbishment of the building we found some amazing features.
Original stone work was covered in plaster, brick columns were cladded with plastic and old fireplaces were not used. We were delighted to restore the building and reveal some of the original features of our gorgeous building.
We up cycled all of the wood from when it was a pub to clad our cafe area. The original tables in the pub were so gorgeous we had to keep them and use them in our cafe.
These are the gorgeous stone pillars we discovered that were hidden with artex.
This used to be the old dining area of the Pack Horse, traditional red brewery carpet.
This used to be the view from our gift shop to our cafe.
This was the old pool room in the pack horse, which is now our cosy snug area.
Again, another view of the pool room.
Here is the old bar from the Pack Horse. This is now our gift shop.
The exterior of the Pack Horse, before we had our gorgeous signs put up.
Here is another view of the old bar area that is now our gift shop.
Hidden behind art we discovered this gorgeous original stone fire place.
Work in progress. This is the chaos going ‘crazy’ with a sledge hammer can cause.
